"Our Risen King!" (Resurrection Hymn to be sung to "Thaxted" by Gustav Holst)

Verse 1

O Daystar that arises,

We plead you to shine here.

And warm us with your presence,

In this our earthly sphere.

Cast out all the darkness,

By your most brilliant light,

And shine your face upon us,

And give us Heav’nly sight.

The shadows of our earthly-

Abodes will then fade dim.

And our crude and simple treasures

Will fade in sight of Him!

Verse 2:

O God who comes to rescue,

And comes to raise the dead.

Who dries our tears of weeping,

And gives us life instead.

The First Fruits of the living,

Our hope is in your Name,

To raise us as you promised,

And we, your children claim.

No mortal death or sickness,

Nor pain, nor tears, nor night.

Just eternal bliss of sunshine

Our Resurrection Light.

Verse 3:

O God who overcometh,

And gives eternal breath.

Who crushed the finite’s gravestone,

And slayed the sting of death.

To Thee we lift our praises,

To Thee we now do sing.

And cast our crowns before Thee,

Our Resurrection King!

To Thee we lift our praises,

To Thee we now do sing.

And cast our crowns before Thee,

Our Resurrection King!
