The Simplicity of My Walk with God

Much can be reflected about in the past ten years of my life from age twenty to thirty. They have truly been formative in my life. After all, I continued to pursue a degree in college, made career choices, made life-long acquaintances, got married, and have two children which I am helping to raise. It seems, at least from my perspective, that the foundation for my life has been already set and that the rest of my forthcoming years will be results of my previous decisions.
So it is because of this reflection that I meditated on what is required in the future by God for my life. I completely understand it is only He who knows the future, and because of this, I would do well to depend upon Him for guidance. The question then is: What is my responsibility in the coming days, months, or years knowing that tough times will come and that I am not guaranteed tomorrow? In pondering upon God's Word and His thoughts toward me found therein, I was reminded of Micah 6:8. It reads:"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"In its context, Israel was asking if God was desiring sacrifices. God's reply was that His desire was them, and that He coveted a relationship with them.
God requires of me:

To do justly - walking in righteousness.
To love mercy - because God has for forgiven me to walk in His love and to forgive others.
To walk humbly with...God - to realize that anything good comes from the Benevolent Provider and not by my menial attempts.

Sometimes the Christian life becomes muddied by inessential activities. Whereas it is true that much is involved in these previous broad statements, it is helpful for our understanding the Christian life has been concentrated. My life ahead does not have to be complex. It is just merely walking after God's principles for life and communing with Him. A full understanding of these concentrated truths establishes a charge to keep for one's life and strips the inessential away. With all superfluous erased, I look forward to the upcoming days knowing the simplicity of life will make all the difference and a difference is what I pray God will help me make in this wicked world.
In Christ,

Pastor Jon
